The People Agency (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UAE-based recruitment agency operating at https://thepeople-agency.com. We take the privacy of our candidates, clients and website visitors seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can ask us to remove it.
The short version
- We will never sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, data brokers or any other third party.
- By submitting your CV or personal information to us, you agree that we can store it securely on our systems and use it to help find you work.
- Your CV and details may be shared with potential employers and recruitment partners for roles you have applied for, or roles we reasonably believe suit your skills and experience.
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time by contacting us at hello@thepeople-agency.com.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to candidates, clients, suppliers, website visitors and other business contacts. It covers information we collect in any way: through our website, by email, over the phone, in person, through social media such as LinkedIn, and through job boards where we advertise roles on behalf of our clients.
We handle personal information in line with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Where other data protection laws apply to you, such as the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we will also respect the rights those laws give you.
Consent
By submitting your CV, application or personal details to us, through our website, by email, or by any other means, you consent to us collecting, storing, using and sharing your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not send us your CV or personal details. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us (see “Your rights” below).
Information we collect
When you apply for a role, register with us or send us your CV, we may collect your name and contact details (email, phone number, address), your CV, work history, qualifications, skills and references, and details relevant to your job search, such as nationality, visa or residency status, notice period, current and expected salary, and preferred locations. We also collect any other information you choose to provide, including cover letters, photographs or portfolios.
We may also record information you share with us in phone calls, meetings and interviews, such as your career goals, strengths, experience and preferences. This helps us understand what you’re looking for and recommend you accurately to employers. If you apply for one of our roles through a job board or another third-party site, we will receive your application and details from that site.
If you are a client, we may collect your name, company name, job title and contact details.
How we use your information
We use your information to assess your suitability for roles you apply for and to match you with other opportunities that fit your profile. We use it to put you forward to potential employers and to arrange interviews, and to contact you about your applications, relevant job opportunities and our services. We also use it to manage our relationship with clients and candidates, to improve our website and services, to meet legal and regulatory obligations, and to detect and prevent fraud.
Many candidates come back to us months or years later when they are ready for a new move. For this reason, we may contact you about a role that closely matches your experience and goals even if you are not actively looking. You can ask us to stop at any time.
We will only send you marketing emails, such as newsletters or event invitations, if you have agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing hello@thepeople-agency.com or using the link in any email.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
We share your information only where it is needed to help you find work or to run our business. This includes potential employers, for roles you have applied for or that we believe are a good match for you. It also includes recruitment partners and affiliated agencies, where working together improves your chances of placement. We may also share it with trusted service providers who help us operate, such as IT, hosting and recruitment software providers, all of whom are required to keep your information secure and confidential. Finally, we share it with government or regulatory authorities where required by law.
International transfers
Some of our clients, partners and service providers are based outside the UAE. Your information may therefore be transferred to and stored in other countries. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with applicable data protection law.
How long we keep your information
Because candidates often come back to us years later, we keep your information on our systems until you ask us to delete it.
We may need to keep some limited information for longer where the law requires it, for example for accounting, tax or contractual reasons. If we have placed you in a role, we keep a basic record of that placement to meet our obligations to the client.
How we protect your information
We store your information on secure systems and take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. Our measures include password-protected systems, access limited to authorised staff, firewalls, encryption, secure data storage, regular backups, and secure deletion of data we no longer need. We do not ask candidates for bank or financial details.
Your rights
Depending on the laws that apply to you, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy
- Correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your information from our systems
- Restrict or object to how we use your information, including opting out of job alerts and marketing
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Request a transfer of your information to you or another organisation
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@thepeople-agency.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We aim to respond to all requests within 30 days, and to delete your information within 30 days of a deletion request. If a request will take longer, we will let you know.
Once your information is deleted, we cannot recall a CV that has already been sent to an employer. We will not share it further. If we have placed you in a role, we will keep only the minimum record needed, as explained above, and will not contact you again.
If there is a data breach
If personal information we hold about you is lost, accessed or disclosed without authorisation, we will report it to the relevant authority as required by law. If the breach is likely to affect you, we will tell you as soon as possible.
